Recruit, recruit, recruit!
On Friday I decided to finally check out this new Flying Saucer place since some hashers were having a happy hour there. It's quite close to my work and much easier to get to than Lovejoy's (until we move downtown on April 28!). I was the first to arrive...no tables available anywhere. So I decided to hang by the bar. Met this girl named Christine who was also waiting for her friends. We started chatting and I told her about the hash. She seemed quite interested and mentioned that her roommate Tess was a trail runner. Christine is more of a mountain biker, but I think they will both be checking out the hash in the near future.
Once TAF, SMB, Padre, Liz, Pornarotti and Two Drinks arrived, we told "#7" to go work his magic and get us a table. He actually scored us a big table in the corner, so off we went.
I closed out my tab and was thinking of heading home, when I ran into some non-hasher friends. Chatted with them for a bit and I now have a standing happy hour drinking buddy for Wednesdays! You see, the Saucer gives away cool glasses every Weds...each week there is a different one, but you have to get there early to put in your order. Check out some previous ones here.
Then those friends left and I continued to chat with my new friends. Oh yeah, I found out that one guy has actually hashed in California before. I forget which kennel. Something about near some Marine base to the East of LA. I'll keep you posted if they actually show up to a hash!
