What's that smell?

On Saturday as I got inside my new car, I smelled something heinous. At first, I thought it was some dog shit. Then I thought, maybe it's those new sport car mats (got rid of the carpeted ones that are horrible for a hasher to have when you're friends with brownie). Got out of the car to lean down and smell the new mats I got for Christmas. Nope...they just smell like rubber. What the hell was making it stink so badly??

Well........I think I found the culprit. Know what you should never ever allow in your car? Do not ever ever ever allow a child's sippy cup with milk in your car! I found 3 sippy cups in my car...2 with water in them...and one with horrible smelling, nasty old milk! Seriously. I might have to kill my brother. (He used my car while in town for the holidays with his wife and 18 month-old kid.) Those cups have been underneath my driver and passenger seats for at least a week, maybe longer. The milk must have dribbled out onto the carpet under the seat. Now it just makes me want to yak.

On Sunday, I sprayed a bunch of carpet cleaner to try to get it smelling better. No such luck just yet. This is gonna take a while. Dammit.

The best thing to do, is to use some febreeze, some armor all, and then leave the car parked with the windows cracked open.

Sprinkle down some Armor hammer baking soda than vacuum it out. It will get rid of the smell immediately.

Maybe it's your BO causing your car to stink. Try taking a shower.

EEEEWWWWW! Rancid milk - one of the worst smells in the world! Been there and done that!!!

There are a herd of things you can do about it though...

Dani's idea about A & H is great, but only works well if you actually dampen the spot first! If you aren't sure where the spot is, I have some amazing carpet cleaner - it even got rid of cat spray smell...

Oh you poor thing! I will end your misery today (I have had this happen to me several times, and my cars smells good again--I am a freak, listen to me!) Buy an enzyme cleaner made for eliminating pet stain odors like Nature's Miracle. Saturate the entire area heavily with the stuff, then cover it with foil so it stays wet for a long time. As it naturally dries, the smell will be eliminated. Good luck to you!

It's much better now! I still need to vacuum up the baking soda.
