R.I.P., Justin & Clifford

Last night I found out that some friends lost their brother to a drunk driver on 2222 this past Sunday. They are still trying to find out all of the details. I hope that they get the answers they are looking for soon. My thoughts are with them as they go through this rough time.

Also...Just saw this email from Waterloo Records.

We got just the news that Clifford Antone was found dead today in his home of an apparent heart attack at the far too young age of 56. Clifford was an important figure in the Austin music scene: impresario of the legendary blues club, president of the record label and owner of the roots and blues record store, all of which took his name. He was a tireless promoter of the blues, not only through his various businesses, but as an educator, teaching courses in the blues at both the University of Texas and Texas State University. If anyone could be described as a true blues "friend" it was Clifford, but his impact on the entire music scene in Austin can't be underestimated.

Waterloo extends our deepest sympathies to his family, his students and his countless friends all over the world.

Clifford Antone articles and info.

I've been going to performances at Antone's since they were over on Guadalupe, before they moved to the 5th Street location. Many good times. Can't wait to go back. Maybe for Bob Schneider or the Scabs? Anyone??

Horrible news about Clifford (and the other guy, but I didn't know him). I'll listen to some Austin blues tonight. I still have his autograph from a Vallejo show at Antone's.

I remember jumping around at Antone's to some cool zydeco after the Iguana hash in 1997.....love that place. Here's to those two families that have lost their loved ones.

Hi Season. Welcome!

Yeah, I never met Justin, but many of you know his siblings...PMP and Pornarotti. I met them both at TX Interhash this year. Good people.

Hey, where's the morbid post about the death of the Astros season after losing 2 of 3 to the Pirates? Oh yeah, 'stros fans only care about the first and last weeks of the season...
