Rugby 12 Bars of Christmas Pub Crawl

So, 2 days after the duathletes' red dress run, I did another 12 bar pub crawl...with the Huns Rugby guys. It was a crappy day...rainy, overcast and cold. But they still had a great showing. The difference between these guys and the duathletes/hashers is that they walk. Luckily it never poured on us....just lightly rained. But we all still got big, wavy 'fro hair. Didn't matter...we just drank and had a great time meeting tons of new folks.

You can see the pics here.

So bored!

Work is sooooooooooooooo quiet today. Out of about 85 employees, only 19 people are here today. On my hallway, there are normally 11 folks, but today it's just 2 of us. I planned on using this quiet time to catch up on filing....but who wants to do that?!

Guess I'm gonna try to be good and finish up some thank you notes to contributors, then it's time to post some more pics! Oh yeah, and I need to figure out what to wear for the James Bond themed pub crawl at Tex-Mex. Any suggestions??

AD Red Dress Run

My offices closed early on the day of the Austin Duathletes Red Dress Run. This was quite helpful because I needed to get to my mom's place, unload all my crap since I'd be staying there for almost 3 weeks while dog sitting, walk the pups and feed them dinner, then get ready for the Red Dress Run. I got over to my friend Lesley's place around 5:30pm. Then run started at 6pm. We already knew we'd be late and were just gonna drive directly to the 1st stop. But, if any of you know Leslo, it can take a while to get out of her house. She's all, "Let's make a drink, sit down and relax a little bit." I'm all, "Why don't we get dressed and ready FIRST, then sit and catch up." So, what do you know....by the time we got downtown, we had to go directly to the THIRD bar to meet up with everyone. As we walked across the street to Darwin's, we heard a bunch of yelling and then saw all the red dresses running in our direction. Was a really cool sight.

At my 1st bar (actually the 3rd stop), I decided on vodka drinks so I could "catch up." At my 4th bar, I still felt quite sober. Decided to start doing a shot at each bar from there on out. Everything must have hit me all at once after the 4th shot, many vodka drinks and beer because I barely remember being at Maggie Mae's and the Jackalope. Somehow I skipped Six and ended up with 2 duathletes and Lesley at some random bar. I have no idea which one, I just know it wasn't busy yet and Lesley, Lulu, and the other duathlete chick just wanted to dance. Somehow we then stumbled over to the Gingerman, I think.

Luckily, Lesley was ok to drive home. So she took us back to her condo where I passed out on the couch in my red dress and striped socks. I woke up when her roommate was leaving for work...at 6:50am. I bolted up and ran to my car. I think I was still drunk as I was driving home because it was hard to stay in the correct lane. Decided it would be fun to do the hotline message at this point. Drunk from the night before and with a raspy morning voice!

I got home as fast as possible to take care of the pups. Poor little things. At home alone all night. We took a long walk and then played ball...all in my red dress. Then I jumped into my bed and napped some more. When I woke up again a little after 11am, it was finally time to retire the red dress and shower. Man, what a great evening that was!

The pics from the Red Dress Run are here.
Hey Squeezin'!

Isn't it funny that brownie has been so quiet lately about his Pitt basketball team?? Guess it's because they dropped from #2 to #10, your Wisconsin Badgers are #4 and the Aggies are right behind Pitt at #11 right now. Mwahahahahaha!

P.S. Set your TVs tonight. Texas A&M plays Cal tonight in the Holiday Bowl. ESPN. 7pm Central.

GIG' EM AGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Overheard at work this morning.....

"I need to put the flag at half-staff today," says the security guard.
"Why, because James Brown died?" ...says the receptionist.

Wow.

Delayed Hangover or just in need of lunch??

I might be getting a delayed hangover. Could be very possible since the Duathlete's 12 Bars Red Dress Run was last night. Met a lot of cool folks. Of course, I'm pretty shy around new crowds, so I thought doing a shot or 2...or 5 would loosen me up. Oh yeah, and did I mention that most of the time I was drinking vodka 7s? Lesley and I thought we'd do liquor drinks since we missed the first 2 bars and we wanted to catch up. Yeah, she takes forever to get out of the house! Oh yeah, and I ran in my Mary Janes. How is that you ask? Well, the maker of the shoes teamed up with Nike, so they're enhanced with the Nike Air technology...super comfy!

So this morning I woke up on her couch at 6:55am...still in my red dress and red grinch socks. Grabbed all my stuff and flew out the door. Had to get back to my mom's since I was beginning to dog sit for her. Took the dogs for a walk and played ball with them for a couple of hours. All while still wearing my red dress. Decided to go back to bed for an hour until Lesley came to pick me up. See, being the nice daughter that I am, I offered to go pick up my parent's car from the airport so they don't have to pay $120 while they're on vacation. Lesley was supposed to get me on the way to meet another friend of ours for lunch. Then we'd go to the airport. So at 11:10am I raced out of bed to finally take off my red dress and put on some jeans since she was gonna be here in 5 minutes. Was even gonna just keep my hair in the braids that were half hanging out..BUT, she never came to get me! Leslo went straight to the restaurant by mistake. So I now sit here at my mom's house...waiting. Feeling light headed. And lazy. And hungry. Guess I'm gonna rest on the couch until she comes to take me to the airport. She better come get me!!!!

P.S. Red Dress pics will come later. At least I have this nice stamp on my hand to remind me of the night. Oh, brings me back to the good ol' college days.

So maybe some food will make me feel better and give me energy??

Merry Martinimas

Went to my first Merry Martinimas party last Friday...missed the one last year and I can't remember why. Anyway, tons of great food, tons of alcohol and good times. How many different kinds of martinis, you ask? Apple martini, key lime martini, chocolate martini, Mexican martini, etc. I stuck with the Meximart....yum yum. Oh yeah, and there was some late night karaoke. Well, I didn't sing, but I laughed at those who did!

Did I mention that Padre and Hovis passed out together on the bed?!!!?!!!!

Here are the pics.

Tex-Mex 2007 is back on!!!

Whoo-hoo! I am back on for Tex-Mex 2007. Thank goodness. I was getting sad about possibly missing it.

Can't wait to see my Colorado buds, to drink Brass Monkeys and play beer pong with them, to hash in Mexico, to have fun in the gigantic hot tub, to party at King's X, stumble across the street to Jack in the Box, to barge into rooms via the window, to do several Apple Pie shots, to meet more new folks, etc!!!

Party on Wayne!

Brake job might screw Tex-Mex

Well, last week I finally had to take my car into the shop. Something was seriously wrong with my rear brakes. $325 later that same afternoon, I headed to my department Christmas party with my new brake job. The Advocacy party is usually fun because I work with some cool people, plus it's always off site and it's always at a place where we can have free flowing pitchers of margaritas. Well, I hadn't been feeling well and my throat was sore. So I stuck with water the entire time and just wished we could speed up the White Elephant game so I could get out of there. Usually, I'm one of the last 4 people there...still drinking on my boss' tab. Not this time. So I MUST have been sick to pass up free alcohol. That just sucks.

Once the party was finally over, I jetted home to rest a bit before the big group movie outing we were doing for my friend who just lost her husband. We saw Stranger Than Fiction at the Alamo Drafthouse. Now, normally I love going here because you can eat and drink while watching the movie. Super cool place if you've never been. Well....continue with me not feeling well and being super tired...still no drinking for me. I actually really enjoyed the movie. Not your typical Will Ferrell movie, but I liked it.

After the chatting was over once the movie was finished (and with 12 people that can take a while), I opted out of going to BB Rover's so that I could get to Margaret's and hit the hay. It was my night to sleepover at her house. I let the dog outside and tried to play with him a little bit, but I didn't have much energy. So I went upstairs to get ready for bed and whammy. What's right there on the rug? A big pile of hacked up hair, etc. The cat had left me a present to clean up. Just lovely. I took my temperature...sure enough, I had a fever! Then it was finally time to get in bed after a loooooong day.

Oh yeah, and the whole point of the story was...........the money I set aside for Tex-Mex was used to get my brakes fixed. Gotta come up with another plan....quick! Unfortunately, my mom has already gotten me my Christmas presents. :(

Hashmas Hangover Hash

Considering that I slept at Cadaver and Head Banger's house, I was very close to the start of the hash on the day after the Hashmas Party. After scarfing down some Whataburger, I headed for the starting location. The pack had already taken off! Several others were just arriving as well, so we all pretty much stuck together. We had a very hard time solving the back check and kept looking and wandering and then somehow stumbled upon trail again. What we didn't know was that we somehow missed the first of 3 beer/shot checks. The entire time we thought the hares didn't wait for us, so we kept on hurrying to catch up...but we ended up ahead of the rest of the pack and we were the first ones in to the On-In. But since we missed part of trail, we weren't counted as the official FRBs. Whatever.

Here is a pick of the real FRBs!

Elvis made some kick ass chili. Can I get a hells yeah! And of course, there was leftover Thai food from the party the night before. Lots of trail treasure was found and 3 people were named during circle. It was a busy day for the RA.

All the pics are here.

Hashmas Party

After partying until 4am on Friday night, we were a little late for our breakfast at the 620 Cafe...great little family run place. Afterwards, I had to jet home to continue looking through pictures for the Hashmas Party slide show that evening. It had taken me a lot longer than planned to go through other people's pics I had stored on Kodak Gallery, etc. THEN, I had all of MY pics to look at and pull. And anyone who knows me, knows I am a picture freak....

I showed up to the party right on time when the Junta was supposed to arrive, but couldn't help set up. Still working on last minute photos to add. So I sat by the fireplace and continued to search for funny photos. Man, I sure miss having a fireplace...and a real one. This wasn't one of those wimpy gas ones! Once the party got going, I gave my laptop over to blASSt Zone who set up the projector. I think everyone enjoyed the pics, except for the fact that people got tired of looking at Day Old Fish's arse. Well, that's what he does! He shows his backside in all his glory...and I had many of those. Hee hee hee.

Blah, blah, blah....we partied and partied. Had lots of great food catered by Nat & Marisa, had lots of shots of some crazy named stuff that I can't even pronounce...some Kosher stuff that T-Rex brought. What the hell was that stuff? And yes brownie, there was even some nasty Boone's Farm crap. That stuff is just way too sweet for me. And I tried Courvoisier for the first time. Not my favorite drink. Anyway, Elvis brought some ice-cold Tuaca that disappeared way to soon. Dee-lish!

A lot of folks petered out early, but luckily the ASSers showed up to take over when the hashers started to bail. They kept us going until the wee hours of the morning. Not really sure what time I crashed on Head Banger and Cadiver's couch. All I knew was that I was NOT driving home!

You can see all the pics here.

Fun at Lovejoy's & at Richy's

Last Friday, I went to Lovejoy's assuming I'd run into somebody I knew from the hash. Sure enough, I did! A great time was had by all.

View the rest of the pics here if you want to see Lesley's "arm warmers!"

After 4 hours at LJ's, it was time to head north to my friend's BBQ. I needed to get closer to my house, plus I was already late. We ended up partying until 4am...then got up for a late breakfast at 620 Cafe. That place rocks.

Gator was set on getting the chips that fell into the boot.

Richy's famous pose during pics...grab the boob!

All the pics are here.

Happy B-day Mama!

Seriously? How does one find the sidewalk at this house?

Drove by this house on the way to a friend's place Monday night. It's hard to tell from this pic, but the snow globe is ginormous!

I love sailing. Photo from end of the day at Lake Travis.

Fake Bono Rocks!

Oops! Forgot the link to ALL the pics. You can view the rest of them here.

So, later Saturday night after Mia's baptism, it was time to party. My friend Gina was in town from San Diego for the holidays and Gordon just happened to be celebrating his birthday downtown. He wanted to hit the Irish pubs, but when we arrived at B.D. Riley's, they were at maximum capacity due to the Notre Dame vs. USC game. So we all ended up next door at Logan's.

After I had downed two 34 ounce big mugs o'beer, Gordon said he wanted to head to Maggie Mae's because there was a cover band who played some U2 songs.

Ok, now if you have never met Gordon then you don't know his love for U2. Upon arrival at MM, I saw a business card on the bar. Yeah, ummmm, this was no ordinary cover band...they claim to be "Texas' Tribute Band to U2!" Too funny. They're called Mysterious Ways. Gordon cracked us all up by singing and dancing to all the songs. Man, that boy is fun to party with!

And I swear, fake Bono took a liking to my friend Gina. He kept coming over to sing to her personally. The fun part is they actually sounded pretty damn good! Ok, so it could be because I had a crap load of beer and then switched to vodka & 7's...oh yeah, and that crappy tequila shot. What was I thinking by drinking well vodka???

Gobble Gobble Gobble

Ok, so I know I haven't posted much in a while. Was kind of nice not feeling like I HAD to (except for those nice reminders about my blog sucking). Especially when a lot of stuff was happening in my personal life and the time nor the will was there to give a rats ass about this blog.

I'm finally feeling the urge again...so I'm gonna do some quick pics and recaps of events. But it's pretty much all family stuff, so stop now if that bores you!

On Thanksgiving morning, my dad, step-mom, brother's wife and my niece all did the Turkey Trot in Austin. Always a great time. Unfortunately, due to my brother's job, he had to change his flight to arrive later that Thursday, so we pinned a picture of him to Mia's stroller so he'd still be there with us.

Didn't have time to hang out afterwards to find hashers due to Thanksgiving lunch plans, but I did see a few at the beginning of the run. And at the very end I ran into a co-worker who was pushing one child in a stroller and carrying another. Crazy lady!

Took us awhile to cross the start

The Pillsbury Doughboy...whoo-hoo!

Gig 'Em Aggies!

********

I just love Thanksgiving meals! Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls...deelish! I started out my meal differently than most people though...with crispy bacon and an omelette, then the usual turkey stuff, then more bacon and a mini waffle for dessert. Hells yeah!!!

Later Thursday night I went to my Dad's place. They had made this super awesome dessert...a little too sweet to eat more than one, but delicious none-the-less. The recipe calls them Pumpkin Butter Bars [recipe from Williams-Sonoma], but I think they are very similar to my Cheesecake Brownies with a pumpkin spice mixture added to the cheesecake part. I'll be making them sometime soon, so if you live in Austin, be sure to come get one while you can! I can post the recipe as well if anyone is interested.

Friday, Nov 24: You know what happened that day. The Fightin' Texas Aggies beat the Longhorns. Whoop!!!!!!!!!!!

Sat, Nov 25: Went to my little niece's baptism. Man, she laughed and smiled the entire time...not so for her cousin James. Heh heh heh....

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the pictures shown below were taken by a wonderful photographer named Vanessa. You can check out her site here.

I love this pic of her grabbing James
