Halloween - crazy old lady

Stopped by my mom's house for a quick iChat with my little niece in Miami. On man, what a cute Dorothy she made!

Well, my mom dressed up in order to pass out candy...as a crazy old lady with messed up makeup.... See why I like wigs?!

Crazy old lady up close

Pink April

At last week's BFC game, April had to wear the pink jock strap. She wasn't too thrilled, as you can see in this photo. But it was cold out so you couldn't really see it anyways! On yeah, someone had previously asked where we found a pink one...my softball buds had to dye it. Sorry!

And one of April's friends brought her new sheepdog. She got him from a sheepdog shelter, who saved him from a local shelter. Isn't he a cutie?! His name is Hero and he has 2 different colored eyes. Too bad I didn't get a shot of that.

Corn Dog Alert!

I heard on the radio that Sonic is having 50 cent corn dogs today!!! Hells yeah. Not sure if it is all day long or after 5pm. I will be on the lookout. They also mentioned 50 cent ice cream treats...wonder which ones? I will let you know after I check it out at lunch!!!

UPDATE: it's from 5pm to close!

What A First SA Hash!

I took my first road trip in the new car one week early. Decided to head down to San Antonio's Halloween pub crawl. Went straight from work on Friday. Wow. I guess I thought I was back in college because things got a little out of hand. Stopped at a Wendy's right by the start to use their bathroom to change into my costume and on on to the festivities. I pulled up to find only 3 people there and no alcohol, so I cruised over to a gas station for a Brass Monkey setup. Soon after, more and more folks started arriving. I must also mention that when I first saw Brownie, I thought he had either gotten a black eye or was wearing eye makeup. He claims that he had to wear camouflage paint all over his face that day for training....hmmm.

Felt a little out of place at first cause I only knew 3 hashers...and two of them I barely know...but I soon met fun peeps and then recognized a couple of people I had met at Texas Interhash. Got a few drinks in me and I was much more talkative!
The first bar was a dive...even had video surveillance of the parking lot (which Brownie decided to moon). They also gave us some lemonade tasting shot, plus I had 2 beers.

On On to Bar #2...where there was karaoke going on. Decided to get things going by doing a Jager Bomb first, then 2 beers.
One SA hasher sang a Patsy Cline song....gorgeous voice. I just can't remember her name. Was it Schnazberry?

Then this regular named Zene sang and was amusing.

He saw me take a picture of him (for the phrase on his shirt)....so he came over after the song to say hello. This gave Wanker an idea for Tex-Mex....he thinks everyone should wear a Nascar cap. He even called Nuthin' But Net right there on the spot and was told NO!
Then Zene told us about the next guy up and how he can make the noise of a harmonica with his hands and mouth and no instrument. Well, sort of. On out.

The next stop (if I remember correctly) was the backyard of someone's apartment where they had syringe jello shots. Dee-lish! Did 3 of them and I think took a couple for the road. That must have been my downfall....

The next bar was Scandal's. This is where we got "Meat's Mom" to take a picture while sitting on Brownie's lap in the men's bathroom. You can't really tell from the picture except for the fact that Wanker is holding up a plunger. Her name is Midnite Stroker, just like Meatgazer's mom, so we kept calling her Meat's Mom all night! She was really cool. Hope that didn't bother her too much.

I have no idea what I drank at this bar, but I think it was just beer. I just know that I had a blast. :)

After this bar it was time for circle. I remember parts of that. Kit Kat's husband kept cracking me up with his funny stances in his tiny running shorts. Then on to the Bermuda Triangle...a lesbian bar. This is where the costume contest was held. I have no idea how long we were here. I only recall the contest. There is a picture of me "napping" underneath the gigantic blow up Halloween cat out front. Who knows how long I was "resting." Thank goodness my friends found me and took me home (and not the cops who could've given me a PI)!

Oh yeah...the ride home. All I know about that is I had to yack. Dead Lay quickly pulled over and I leaned over GG's lap to puke outside the door. Lovely impression I made on my very first SA hash! We went back to Microsoft Dick's house...which is huge by the way. It seemed like room after room after room. No wonder they always crash at his place because there is always a bed for everyone! I tried to stay up a little while chatting with everyone, but didn't last too long. MD helped me find a bedroom and he put me to bed and even left me a bottle of water. So nice.

The next morning I woke up and heard the word "bacon." I raced out of bed to get me a piece. I actually felt ok, just a little tired. Wonder what time I went to sleep? If I had taken any pics at MD's house then I could've looked at the time stamp to help figure that out, but no such luck. Later that day I started to feel horrible. You know when you get really cold shivers and then get really hot? That's when I know I have to throw up. Yep...I christened Brownie's toilet. Thank goodness he didn't come take a picture of it! Again, two more times later, plus some false alarms. Not a good day at all. Luckily, I always seemed to have to yack again when he left the room to check on his laundry. That worked out nicely!

Trying to drive back to Austin was awful. I had no energy and my arms were kind of shaking and feeling a little numb. Very bizarre. I called Brownie to say I didn't think I could make it all the way back...I just wanted to turn around and go sleep at his place while he was in Austin for the night. Then I could hash in SA the next day and return home Sunday night. But then realized I couldn't get back on base without a military ID. CRAP. So I forced myself to eat the Viactiv vitamin he had given me on the way out the door. I swear, that actually helped me. I started to feel better and wasn't shaking anymore. I am totally stocking up on those things for hash weekends. They really rocked! Managed to drive home feeling better and even ate my Whataburger chicken sandwich that I had ordered hours earlier. (Don't worry, it went in the fridge as soon as I realized I couldn't eat it that morning.)

I missed out on 2 Halloween parties in Austin because of my actions on Friday. Went to bed at 9:45pm Saturday night! Man, I REALLY need to be more careful next time I drink. At least I lost a couple of pounds since I couldn't eat much on Saturday or Sunday...or even Monday. I've been eating half a sandwich and getting full. That sucks, because I like to eat and all, but I guess it's a good thing since I haven't been running AT ALL!

Another One Bites the Dust....err, I mean...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Next time you see these two lovebirds, congratulate them....and buy them a drink!

They got engaged on Sunday, October 21. You are looking at the future Mr. & Mrs. Sluttypants! :)

I'm really excited for them. I've known Lesley since about 1994 and have become friends with Chris (Massive Slut Slinger) since I started hashing in 2005. Both are super sweet, fun, loving friends and I wish them a lifetime of happiness. Love you guys!!!

Lesley said she thinks they've told everyone, so now I'm helping to spread the word even more!)

Free booze, schwag and snacks!

Had a great night at a Puma event tonight! Went straight from work to check out if anyone was in line yet. Only a couple of folks hanging out. Found out the store was open until 6pm until they closed for a bit to set up, so my mom and I were smart and went inside to try on shoes and have them set aside. We wanted to have fun drinking and eating once inside for the party! Back outside and we were numbers 5 and 6 in line. You see, the first 100 people got a gift bag of stuff worth $200. Whoop!!!

Tried a new vodka that is infused with guarana and caffeine. It's pink, but quit good... And they made them strong, at first. Switched to wine after a few vodka drinks cause whatever they mixed it with was too sweet. This was my first experience with Pinot Noir... Quite delicious! The brand was Hob Nob. Oh,, and the hors d'.... However you spell that damn word...they were awesome!

Si, I ended up with a purse and some new shoes...20% off. Hells yeah. Oh, and the cool bag full of schwag. I just love Puma!!!

P.S. They had a photo booth where you could take pics for free. My mom and I did it twice...once in color and once in black and white. Fun, fun!

Of Dry Creeks and Blue Stars

The night before the Tour de Fat, I hung out with some non-hasher friends I hadn't seen in awhile. We met up at the Dry Creek Saloon. That place looks different. It's kind of weird all cleaned up and painted. No more rusty, mismatched chairs, no more rickety old tables that lean so badly that you have to just hold your beer or it'd tip over. They have new folding chairs that are red and blue with Corona on them. It seems like they painted the patio floor too because my shoes kept sticking to the paint. Then, there is a big new house being built right behind the patio. So when you are trying to enjoy the beautiful sunset view, you see this big house. I was told it's the crotchety old lady's son who is building the house.

Other than the weirdness of those things, it was a gorgeous evening with gorgeous weather. I just love Fall! After a few beers, we were hungry for dinner. Another group of friends was headed to the Blue Star Cafeteria. I've never been there, so decided to tag along. I mean, it's on Burnet Road not too far from Billy's, so how bad could it be?! It's not a true cafeteria type like Luby's....you have a waitress. The tables are a little close, but that just makes it more cozy, right? I really enjoyed myself. Maybe that's because of the beers at Dry Creek and the alcohol at Blue Star...maybe that's because of the fun company. We had a table of 12. Brooke just makes me laugh anywhere I am! I loved everything I sampled as well. I would definitely go back.

Dance, Dance!

After the Tour de Fat, I followed Brownie over to Lovebite's house for his birthday party.
Cynthia had given me directions so that I'd pass a Taco Bell, but drunkard Wanker wouldn't
have any of it. He had Googled directions and that was apparently the only way to get there.
I had only had one kolache and then half of a sample sized Clif bar that day, so food would have been
a really good idea after all the beer consumed at the festival.

We arrived at Lovebite's at 6pm...the party started at 7! Mike and Emily were still setting up and
then needed to get dressed. To get out of their way, we played Dance, Dance Revolution! It is quite entertaining, actually.
Emily put some snacks in the oven so we could eat. Such a sweetie! Holy smokes! I have never seen more alcohol at one psrty. Cooler after cooler after cooler filled with all types of beer, bottle after bottle of liquor and wine. They definitely went crazy. Yum yum.

Soon after other folks started showing up...lots more Dance Dance.
Next thing I know, drunkard is missing. I found him and had him record the hash hotline before he passed out. It took awhile because he kept hanging up before I could save it...retard! Unfortunately, the reception wasn't very good and it cut in and out. Oh well.

Ann and I later tried to wake him up. But no such luck. Sucks to be him. We continued to party! Sucky thing for me though...I couldn't talk
anyone into going to Trophy's with me to see my friend's band. And if I went by myself, I didn't think I would be able to drive home all
the way up North. Yet again, another show I missed. Their last show was the same night as the BRC. One of these days I am making a damn show!!!

Pics can be seen here.

Close, but no cigar

I picked up my new license plates. Almost had BRC ones, but no such luck.
They start with BDC.

So, I always like to have a phrase to remind me of the letters. Got any suggestions?
All that comes to my mind is Big Dick Club. Hmm...

Tour de Fat ROCKED!!!

On Saturday I was in slow motion. Finally got to sleep in my bed for the first time in about 3 weeks and I did NOT want to get out of it Sat morning. By the time I got moving and was ready to depart the house, I had already missed the bike parade portion of the Tour de Fat. Oh well. My bike rack doesn't fit on my new car anyways.

I head down to Festival Beach, got front row parking in the street (because everyone else rode their bike to the event), walk in without a bag check or anything, get a beer and found Lulu and Brownie right away. Tim and Carri were there as well.

It was a smaller event than I had thought, so finding folks was quite easy. The Asylum Street Spankers were playing when I arrived. Very different type of music, but entertaining. During one song the chick was playing a saw with a bow from a violin. Crazy!

At some point after that Cynthia and Rick arrived.

Next thing I know we are shopping at the New Belgium tent. Brownie says, "this band sounds pretty good." And he takes off. WELLLLLL, turns out it was my co-worker's band....playing their set earlier than what Alex had told me. So I totally missed it because I was oblivious in New Belgium land. Oh well...that just meant I would not miss their midnight show at Trophy's. Wrong! But that's a story for later.

Hi-lights of the day:

The Slowest Bike Race, chillin' with friends on a gorgeous afternoon, the Unicycle Joust, watching the crazy bikes go round and around, the March Fourth Marching Band....and New Belgium beer, of course!

Cynthia has a beautiful New Belgium Cruiser!

Margaret came out and met some of my hasher buds. But she didn't get the tongue memo....

You can see the all the pics here.

I went straight to Lovebite's house from the festival. Showed up to his party one hour early....nice. Freakin' Brownie. More on that later, but I'm tired and I've been at Chon Som for over 3 hours now. Time to head home.

Friday, October 19, 2007

After the Tour de Fat tomorrow, go to Trophy's for the After Show! My co-worker's band plays at midnight. They're called The Story Of. Four bands play and it's only $5 (unless you ride your bike then it's free).
I just hit 400 miles on my new car yesterday. When I test drove it there were only 11 miles on it, so I've put on almost all of them! First road trip is in 2 weeks....

Thursday, October 18, 2007

So the past 2 1/2 weeks have been jam packed with activities...with my brother, his wife Monique and little baby Mia in town, with meeting them for lunch almost every day and then meeting them at one of my parent's houses every night, with the craziness of prepping for my annual work conference, with the BRC and visiting friends and with working the actual conference for 4 days. Man, I am beat! But everything was a blast.

I actually got to go home at noon yesterday. Went by the Apple store to ask a couple of questions and to check out their iPhone covers. Then I met my mom and we hit her gym...I haven't done ANYTHING active in ages and needed to get the ball rolling. Did the treadmill for 40 minutes and then weights for 30. I am sore today, but it's a good sore. After the gym we stopped by Kneaded Pleasures for a quick sandwich...delicious!

Later that night I attended my very first CAbi show. Kind of like a The Body Shoppe event at someone's house (or if you like old school references.....like a Tupperware Party), but with clothes instead. I actually had a great time. I'm not a big shopper, but trying on clothes and having someone experienced show you how different things can look, and having friends there to say "yay" or "nay" was a big help for this clothes retard.

Next up....showing my mom the CAbi catalog to see if she wants to buy me anything!!! Hee hee hee....

Someday I will post pics from the Burnet Road Challenge (for those not on the hash email list) and from Saturday night fun at the Gourds show. Those guys are hilarious!

P.S. Did I mention how much I loved working half a day and hitting the gym at 1:30pm?? It wasn't crowded at all. I could totally get used to that lifestyle!

Prepping for the BRC

You know it's been a long day at work when the only cars left in the parking garage are yours and the CEOs.....

Stayed late last night working on stuff for my Conference so that I can get out of here by 4:15pm today so I can pick up Dani (A.K.A. Nappy Headed Whore!). This is the only personal thing I'm doing today so that I can work, work, work!

After I left work, made a quick grocery store run, packed up some things at my casa, then met up with Elvis, Grabber and Fish. They were doing a mini-BRC to remind the bar owners that we will be invading tonight. That's right, it's finally time for the 3rd Annual BRC!!!!!

At LaLa's....

I'm Thirsty Now!

Smooth Ride

I've had family in town from Miami for the past week, so not much blogging going on. But, I will share this.....Looksie what I got this past Saturday. Too bad Brownie and Fish were too drunk Saturday night or I might have showed them! OH yeah, I also had a fever and was lacking energy and felt like crap. Maybe that's why I didn't want to walk downstairs to show them.....

A free beer goes to the first person who can correctly name my new ride. Sorry, I blacked out the symbol on the front. Hee hee hee....

Mad Cowboys-September

Doing the Brownie pose....

I seriously thought I posted September's Mad Cowboys show. Guess not. Brownie even came up for it and I don't think he cares for their music. It's a fun hasher night though and you can bring in your own liquor. Yum yum.

You can see all the pics here.

Walnut Creek Hash - Sept 9

I think I'm getting close to catching up on posting pics.....

On September 9, The Body and TAF were the hares of the Walnut Creek Hash. A group of us got caught up in a circle jerk and we got tired of going in circles. We then thought we found trail again, only to find out we were heading back the way we came. We knew it was A to A, so we just headed back to the start. I mean, that's where the beer was!

Waiting for the pack

The "Twins"

The Hares

You can see all the pictures here.
Met the Keever's at CS for a birthday dinner on Sept 11th. It was also the birthday week of Nat and Justin. I switched it up and didn't get Spicy Cashew Chicken....I got the Chicken Krapow. Dee-lish! Thanks Janna and Darin!!!

Look at Kaylee staring at the candles!

Who Likes Pink??

So the night before mini-BRC night was also the day after my birthday...and the day I had to accept my punishment from the Betty Ford Clinic softball team. I had to pay for something I did "wrong." And by that I mean that I was voted on by the team to get punished for not wearing my team shirt at a weekend tournament...that was totally voluntary to go to...and it was over 100 degrees...so I wore a tank top! So sue me.

Well, good thing I met some friends for birthday drinks beforehand........because I was good and lubed up. Only thing was, I barely left enough time to race home, grab my team shirt and haul ass to the ballpark. I had to just throw on my shirt over my work clothes and I put my flip flops on in the car. As soon as I got to the softball fields I was given the item that I had to wear during the game, as well as the birthday hat, and I put both on right away. No protest. I hadn't seen the item yet, but I had heard about it. Man, I was a sight.....

Yep. I had to wear a pink jock strap on the outside of my clothes! Funny thing was, my team shirt is too big because they ordered the wrong size with my Jack symbol on it, so when I stood up you could barely see the jock strap. Not my fault. But since I thought it was soooo funny, I ended up tucking my shirt into my belt to make sure everyone at the fields could get a good laugh. I'm such a good sport. :)

What you don't know is that the team votes each week for someone to receive the Jackass award. The night they get voted on, they have to drink some nasty beer. Then during the next game they are required to wear this pink batting helmet and the pink JA shirt.

The Pinkies for the night.

No more office...

My company is building a new building downtown. We are slated to move in sometime the end of March/beginning of April. I will no longer have my own office. Almost everyone is getting put into what they're calling Modular Units...unless you are a VP. They are staying away from the word "cubicle." Anyway, they ordered one and set it up in the breakroom so we could see what they look like.
It actually doesn't look too bad, I guess. But still looks like a cube to me. One thing though....the chair is FREAKIN AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE! Did someone say nap time??

It's About Bloody Time!!!

Tex-Mex 2008 rego has finally been published. Click HERE to print off your own registration. Whoo-hoo!!! It's gonna be a Colorado/Austin Hash P A R T Y ! ! !

Mini-BRC

So working backwards still....the Friday before the Virgo Hash and MLH scouting trip, I met SMB and TAF for a mini-BRC night. They had some visitors in town from overseas and they wanted to show them some of our fine dive bars. I missed the Poodle Dog stop, but joined them at C. Hunt's. We then hit Ginny's. There was a huge bus parked outside and they must have all been tourists in town. I've never seen Ginny's so quiet, except for the loud ass chick singer. Kind of a downer. We wanted to see who was singing so we never came back when she was there. We bolted as soon as we finished our beer.

Next stop was Billy's. I was all excited to get my Frito Pie. The Brits thought this sounded interesting and they both got one as well. They seemed to like it, considering they ate it all. Damn, I love those things. I can't wait for it to get colder so I can make my homemade chili. Hells yeah!

After Billy's, we moved the party to the Pleasure Palace. I refrained from drinking a Reindeer's Tear because those things are potent...and I was laying trail the next morning and new it'd be long. Didn't want a repeat from 2 years ago.....I partied WAY too hard the night before, couldn't drive home, slept at a friend's house, had to get driven back to my car at the crack of dawn...out at Carlos N Charlie's in BFE, then race home to change, ate a leftover Taco Bell soft taco for breakfast and rushed to The Body's house. Let's just say that I had very little energy and after 4 hours we still weren't finished with laying trail. (I was told it would take 2 hours.) Padre gave me some of that Gu gel to eat. It was nasty, but helped. I was almost out of water and it was 100 degrees. Hovis had to come get us because we were lost and couldn't find the path that connected where we were trying to go. I mean, at one point, Padre took out a huge knife and was cutting us a path. Helloooo, if the deer can't get through, we can't either! So we shimmied/slid down a ravine that led to 2222. Hovis drove us up to the top so we could connect the trail from that direction. Thank god Body said, "I think you've had enough." So I went to Hovis' house for some water and to collapse.
That was my VERY FIRST trail laying experience! Now I always bring a protein bar while laying the Virgo Trail!
OH yeah...Here are all the pics from the mini-BRC.

Scouting the MLH

After Body and I were finished laying the Virgo trail, I got cleaned up and met Grabber down at the Plaza Saltillo. We had to scout for the Malt Liquor Hash. We checked out this one bar. They didn't have Schlitz, PBR or Lone Star. WTF? And their Miller and Bud products were $3! Double WTF? Oh yeah...and Grabber said it was a hooker bar. The only other folks in the whole place were all chicks...in short skirts and high heels...and it was 3:30pm on a Saturday. And we were the only ones drinking. Where the heck were all the dudes?

We got a bite to eat at this place. Not too bad!

This pic doesn't really do it justice. But I got about 100 bites after scouting the super shiggy section.

Hee hee hee.... I liked this cloud....for some reason....

By the time I got home, it was about 7:30-8pm and I was beat. That was a loooooong day of hash stuff. So I just stayed home that night and was a bum. Thought about meeting some folks up at Threadgill's for Bob Schneider's bluegrass band, but I just didn't have the energy, nor did I want to fight the ACL traffic. I crashed early.
