Hiphopopotamus

Haven't given any updates lately...and I have a couple stories....later. I'm already hungry from lunch, probably from last night's drinking and from only eating a hot soft pretzel for dinner. Maybe it's the End of the World beer that I drank. Damn, that stuff is strong!!!

For now I give you Hiphopopotamus!

ACL Festival...Rumors!

Just discovered this web site devoted to rumors about ACL 2008. Some of the bands they are guessing/semi-confirming sound tons better than last year's crappy lineup. I ended up selling my wristband last year because I just wasn't hyped up about many folks at all.

Here is a blog devoted to ACL 2008.

Damn. I didn't even know the Advance 3-day Passes went on sale already. They sold out in 48 hours. It's down to the $170 3-day pass...or you can wait and hope to get a 1-day ticket later on. Looks like I'm buying one of these 3-day passes with my tax refund (instead of a CO Invihash rego)!

ACL tickets.

I think this was the year of the Dust Bowl. That shirt has never been white since! After a long, full day of drinking and jamming in the sun.

TSO at the Parish

Good Friday continued to be a fun one. I met Christine at BD Riley's for some pre-drinks. My new friend Senad showed up shortly thereafter.

Shots at BD Riley's

The Story Of at The Parish Room Senad, Gagger & Christine
The other IT boys from my work.

While there, I spotted Minnesota Butthole. He hasn't been around in ages. He said he was actually gonna hash this past Sunday. I wasn't there due to family stuff, but I wonder if he really showed up.

After the show we went to Katz's for dinner. Ok, so it was 1am, but I hadn't eaten anything since lunch at Plucker's. I haven't been to Katz's in ages and I was reminded why. The food was ok, but not worth the price. Plus, the service wasn't that great...and it wasn't even that busy yet. All the drunkards were wandering the streets once we finished eating. Next time I'll just stick with Taco Cabana! At least the concert was a great one. :)

March Madness at the Pluck

Last Thursday I left work a little early to go walk the dogs and feed them dinner. Then I bolted to the Round Rock Plucker's for some first round games of the NCAA Tourney. My Aggies were playing their 1st game. Whoop! There were some good games that night! I left around 11:30pm (it closes at midnight anyways) and got in bed with the pups to watch some tv before bed.

At 12:30am I got a call from a drunkard friend who needed a ride. So I headed back up there and found one guy passed out in his truck and my friend on the phone. We somehow got the passed out guy into my car and into my mom's house. But the funny part was Friday morning. When the passed out guy woke up early in some random house and had no idea where he was. He found me sleeping and by the light of his cell phone, shined it in my face and asked, "Who are you and where am I?" Classic. So I told him the story about how I fetched their drunk asses while in my pj's, tried to get him into a guest bedroom but he only wanted the couch.

Then, while giving the boys a ride back to Plucker's on Friday, the one who didn't know me got a call from his roommate saying his ex-girlfriend had driven in from Houston and was sitting on their couch. (She still had a key because the break-up was recent and she lives in another town.) Apparently he drunk dialed her that night at Plucker's and said he loved her. Idiot! So what does he do? He goes to Academy to buy a bathing suit and met his friends at the lake...totally bypassing his house. Hahaha! I wonder how long she waited at his house?

I stayed at Plucker's to have lunch and watch more basketball. More awesome games. But I was beat from staying up late and getting up early. Decided to leave at 5pm to take a nap and then get ready for the TSO concert. More on that later.....

Congrats to Padre

Last Tuesday, Padre drank his 200th beer at the Flying Saucer. He should have his personalized plate hung soon. I'm scared to think about the amount of money he has spent in that place though! We also discovered that Tuesday nights at the Saucer means trivia night. Our team came in 3rd place. Woot woot!

Things don't always go as planned

When I arrived at 3:45pm to the Victory Grill yesterday, I saw my co-worker and went up to him. He immediately had a bad look on his face. Turns out, they had to cancel their 4pm show due to the lead singer losing his voice. And since their actual SXSW showcase was at 8pm that night, they killed the free day show.

Lesley still met me and we decided to check out the band that moved into TSO's spot. I really liked them...enough to buy their CD. They are called Southeast Engine and are from Athens, OH.

Next up, we bolted for the Saucer for free glass night. Upon arriving, Padre notified us that the glass shipment didn't make it! Something about the weather. Boo hiss. But, they gave us IOUs for the special St. Patrick's Day glasses anyways. We had a large group show up, which is always fun. And then when leaving, I found a huge table of my non-hasher friends. Chatted with them for a bit before heading off to snoozeland.

There was no way I was gonna make it to an 11pm show. I was just too tired. My original plan was to see that 11pm show, then go chill outside of Stubb's for REM's midnight show. Since I don't have a wristband or badge, there would be no way I could get in. But I haven't seen them since their Green Tour back in 1989. Thought it'd be cool to at least hear them from outside the gates. Oh well, I was probably in REM sleep by midnight. Hee hee hee. :)

So, things didn't go as I had imagined them to go yesterday, but I still had a great time! Gotta be able to roll with whatever comes your way.

Tonight it's trail preparations...just wait until you see the food we are concocting for the Green Dress Run this Sunday! It's gonna be sooooooo yummy.

TSO...again!

Seems as if I've become a bit of a groupie these days. I'm "taking my lunch" at 4pm today, and sneaking out earlier to head to a 4pm TSO show at the Victory Grill. They are 3rd out of 4 bands. My co-worker's band is playing 3 times today. The first is a free SXSW day show. Woot woot! If anyone else has the afternoon off, come meet me on the East side. It's located at 1104 E. 11th.

After the TSO set, I'll be heading over to the Saucer for free glass night....it's gonna be a St. Paddy's Day glass!!! And I'm bringing a Saucer virgin. So Padre and Carl...save me 2 seats!

Gorgeous Day!

Yesterday was awesome. I hope today is the same...although, it might get too hot. I didn't want to return to work after lunch because it was just so gorgeous outside. It was sunny with blue skies and fluffy clouds and only hit about 73 degrees. Absolutely perfect! If it didn't get over 75 here in Austin, I would probably never want to move. But, triple digits are sure to come. Boo hiss.

Look for hashers and park on the street.

If you are a wimpy wuss, then bring dry shoes.

Weekend Goodbyes

Once I finally rolled out of bed on Saturday morning, I headed to San Antonio to visit my friends Emily and Royce. Emily and I were buddies in college and now she and her hubby are moving to Capetown, South Africa! It's for Royce's job. He has been traveling back and forth for the last 2 years. They decided to all go now. Sooooo, I had to get in some good hang out time since she will be so far away and I can't afford a $1500 plane ticket. They fly to Africa tomorrow! Boo hiss.

Saturday early evening we had a big birthday dinner at some Mexican restaurant where they have Everclear margaritas. Yum yum. Then we sent the chitlins home with Emily's parents and we went out for more fun. Ended up at the SA Flying Saucer (so I got in 3 more beers towards my UFO Club!)
Emily & Royce

Emily's little sister Erin (I'm trying to get her to move to CO!)

While driving home Sunday night I got the HashSpace email invite. (If you don't know what that is yet, let me know and I can invite you.) During the entire drive home I was sending out other invites and commenting on individual sites. Not safe at all, I know, but it sure passed the time quickly. I'm addicted to my iPhone...can't help it! :)

TSO at Emo's

Last Friday I headed down to Emo's Inside for another TSO concert. My new friend Christine met me there with some of her friends...Mark, Eric, Mariah and Tess. Then Squeezin' Semen showed up as well. Had a blast. Then we moved to the outside stage for What Made Milwaukee Famous. Good times! Unfortunately, I wasn't really in picture mode that night...

To the idiot who thinks I deleted their comment. You are a complete moron. Please click on the comments of the previous post and see that your dumb comment is still there. The one that is gone was removed by THE AUTHOR OF THE COMMENT. That person is NOT ME because I was not the author.

Furthermore, why would I delete a comment that said, "Nice koozie placement" when I totally agree that it was awesome AH3 koozie placement??

Stop wasting my time.

BTS!

After trail and fun at the On-After, it was time to head down to Stubb's for the Built to Spill and Meat Puppets concert. Luckily, UnZipMe decided to go as well because my keys disappeared! I thought I might have locked them in the car when I went to grab something and stayed to finish a beer from the hash that was in my car. We looked everywhere for them. I had to leave my car and ride with UZM downtown. Everyone else going to the concert had already headed downtown, so I would've been royally screwed if he hadn't decided to go while hanging out at Chon Som. Thank you!!!

On the ride down, I had to call my mom to ask if she could bring me my keys in the morning. "Can you stop by right now to get them?" she asked. Sorry, but we're late for the concert!

Met up with Padre, Liz and Squeezin Semen at Stubb's.

Liz, jamming to the Meat Puppets.

I have no idea what I'm doing here...

I had a great time, and ended up drinking more than planned since now I wasn't driving. That would cause me major cotton mouth and a headache the next day, but I had a blast Sunday night!

Built to Spill!

Come on SS, get in the picture!

After the show, SS, UZM and I went to Lovejoy's. Ran into my new friend's roommate there. Apparently, she was at the BTS show as well. Don't remember much at LJ's because I was getting sleepy. Think that's when it was time to leave. Crashed on SS's couch after devouring a sourdough Jack sandwich....it was gone in less than one minute.

My mom rocks and came to pick me up the next morning since she has a spare key to my house and my car. I got an email from Pumper Up the Butt that morning. Somehow my keys ended up in his hash bag. No telling what happened, but I was sitting next to him at CS. At least they were found!

Pics from Sunday night's shows are here.

Next live music show is this Friday. Woot woot!

Chuck Norris Trail

The 3rd Annual Chuck Norris Trail was this past Sunday. It was a kinder, gentler trail after last week's fiasco. The chili at the end was delicious. And as a joke due to all the "Lite Beer" emails, Wet/Dry Vac made 3 cakes using Lite Beer.....and they were freakin' awesome!

Asians on trail! Marisa's first hash since having twins.

At the On-After...Grabber used his chopsticks for EVERYTHING!

Marisa (Free Meat) with the old school hashers.

There were a couple of namings during circle. Pornarotti's mom mainly comes out to the hash for the Chuck Norris trails. She was named Mum Chucks. Just Shawn was named Tippy Turd at the Machete Hash....and was officially named that here in Austin.

You can see all the pics here.

Camp Keever

I have been in the same clothes for 2 days straight...and I'm not even camping! Once I found out I wasn't going to SA this weekend, I ended up going straight to the Keever's house on Friday for some amazing homemade pizza (all cooked on the grill) and some Rock Band fun. It was hard to concentrate though since my eyes were tired from partying at the concert the night before. Like old times, I crashed on the futon.

Then breakfast tacos in the morning, fun at the Rich's house with those awesome grilled sandwiches, then dinner at Chon Som. (I swear, I do more than just eat!)

This weekend has been like old times at the Keever Hotel. :)
But I guess it's time to head home so I can shower and get ready for the hash at 1pm and my concert at 6pm. Built to Spill and the Meat Puppets at Stubb's tonight!!!

p.s. Funny thing is, my bag that I packed for SA is in the car, so I actually had several changes of clothes. Oh well....

Food, Beer, Food, and Beer!

So, it seems that all we did on Saturday was eat and drink. Went to Rob & Lynn's with the Keever Crew. Nice, relaxing afternoon.
I tried this for the very first time. It's, umm, interesting...it looks like fudge, but it has the consistency of cheese. Kind of bizarre.

Chocolate Cheese

Amazing grilled sammies! (Thanks Darin & Rob!)

Later at Chon Som, Marisa brought up the twins. Kaylee is unsure of the "boxing gloves." Here is Alisa with Mischa and Darin with Kaylee.

The Chon Som bunnies. You can't see from this pic, but they were both wearing bunny tails too.

Trey & Nat

TSO at the Parish

Last Thursday's TSO concert at The Parish Room was a blast. Just wish they could've played longer! Christine and Ben liked them so much that after half of the very first song they both said they were buying their CD. Woot woot!

Ben & Christine
