Gettin' Paid To Play

On Tuesday around 10am-ish, my co-worker and I are heading to Dallas. We are having our big fundraising event in the offices of one of our corporate sponsors....and their offices are in the Texas Rangers' ballpark. Hells yeah...I get to watch baseball, eat and drink for free and get paid for it! Yay!

Derek Jeter...here I come. :)
(Yep, the Rangers are playing the Yankees.)

Now, if only we could get a corporate member at Minute Maid Park.....

10th Annual Suds Fest!

This past Saturday was my friend's annual birthday party....Suds Fest! Ok, so it's 3 friends who all have April b-days and they celebrate together at Zilker Park. I arrived at 12:30pm and immediately got started on the "witches brew." That's what they call their version of trash can punch. It didn't taste strong, but it had a kick...turns out they used Everclear. Or was it the jello shots Sherri kept feeding everyone? Eventually, I switched to beer. I mean, I still needed to be able to drive later!

The Birthday Gang

I think this was the smallest turnout they've ever had. That was a little strange considering it was the big 10th annual and about 130 people RSVP'd yes, but it was still a nice, chill out day in the park with old and new friends. Oh yeah! Speaking of.....what a small world it is. I saw a girl that looked familiar at one point. Finally asked her how I might know her. Turns out, she is good friends with someone I knew in college and we met at the college friend's wedding...AND, this chick lives in my condo community! Small freaking world.

Anyway, all the pics are here.

What? No John?!

On Weds, April 25 it was my friend Trevor's birthday. Cory Morrow was playing a free concert at Hill's Cafe. I used to have a group of friends who followed Cory around the state, going to many concerts...that was about 4 years ago. I've been out of my Texas Country phase for many years now, but it's growing on me again. We decided to all reunite and go to a show like old times. Wasn't quite the same because 3 of his band members have moved on to other things. I knew that his backup singer had left, but I didn't know his lead guitarist and steel guitar player had left. John Carroll was our favorite band member! We used to get to shows early and get right up in the front row....in front of John. It was so much fun to watch him play. Turns out he now plays lead guitar for Chris Cagle.

Here we are with John at a show in Houston before the Super Bowl.

Well, now that I'm older and all these young ass minors are going to his concerts, we decided to stay away from the stage. Of course, that could have had something to do with the fact that it was totally packed near the stage by the time we got down South. Anyway, it was fun seeing everyone again and laughing at the youngins.

Is that a dick in your boobs??

Why yes, Jay is the master at origami dick tricks!

Hiiiii Jayyyyyyy.

Is that the guy from Poodie Fest?!

Plucker's Cheesesteak!

Wow. I had the new chicken cheesesteak from Plucker's today during lunch. I highly recommend it! They've had the beef one for a while now, but the chicken one was just launched 2 weeks ago...and it is DEE-LISH! They chop up the chicken a lot smaller than how they prepare the beef one. And then add onions and queso. Yep, you heard me. QUESO! Did I mention the new bread they are using for both sandwiches? It is wonderful as well. I actually had the beef one when I was at Plucker's last night for a meeting. Loved it so much that I went back for another one today...but discovered the chicken version instead.

MY NEW FAVORITE ITEM ON THE MENU!!!

Today Sucks

So I didn't sleep well last night at all. Tossed and turned. Crazy dreams. Got up out of bed around 2am. Yadda, yadda, yadda...back to bed. Woke up tired.

While driving to work this morning, my car just totally loses power while I'm coming to a stop light. So it's rush hour traffic, I'm in the left turn lane on Metric at Parmer and I'm about to have everyone hate me because I'm blocking the way. I turn off the A/C, radio and then the ignition. Wait a minute and start it back up...and it came on! Drove slowly to work down less major streets and made it safely. Whew. But what the hell caused it to lose power in the first place???

Just minutes ago, while working at my desk, my necklance just plum falls off me. The clasp broke and it just slid down my shirt...while I'm sitting still and typing away. Great. It's one of my favorites.

What's gonna happen next?? I'll tell you this...I'm walking to lunch today!

Relay For Life

Friday night-Saturday morning, I will be participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Marisa put together a team...we are Team Chon Som. The entire event is from 7pm on Friday to 7am on Saturday. We have shifts of people coming for different times and some folks staying for the entire event. All guests are welcome! Come help us have fun and stay awake all night! My actual time to run is from 11pm-midnight. We will be playing some sort of games, there will be a band, food, etc. No alcohol is allowed since it's on school property. (hint: bring your "coffee mug" or "Bubba Keg" to hide, err, I mean, to carry your "beverages.")

If you are interested in coming to hang out with us, our team page is here. My home page is here. And a map to the location is here.

Chopped!

So yesterday during lunch I got my hair chopped. Four inches! It feels sooooo much better. Was getting really long and stringy, especially with that 1 inch of split ends.

Now if only I could permanently get rid of these grays.....

It's kind of hard to see in this pic, but here you go.

Full Moon Hash - April 2

I promised Slut Slinger I would go to his Full Moon trail, but after a full Friday, Saturday and Sunday of drinking, I was tired and wasn't really in the mood. But I sucked it up and went...I mean, it started a whole 10 minutes from my house. Also, he said it was actually a pub run. Well, the last 1/3 was a pub run! Before that you had to figure out some very tough checks...and we didn't have flash lights since it was a "pub crawl." Some folks didn't even have on running attire since it was supposed to be a "pub crawl."

We got so off trail at one point that we just started walking towards downtown Pflugerville since that's where some bars were. Pornarotti had his phone (technology on trail!) and called to find out where the hell they were. FINALLY, we found the fools and had a nice cold beer. Yay!

We hit another bar, an outdoor beer check and then circle. (Where we renamed Two Drinks Away From My Sister...and she wasn't even there. Her new Full Moon name is Any Semen Will Do.) BUT, at Texas Interhash, we gave her yet another new name......

The On-On-On was held at Hanover's. We were the only folks in the entire place. We ordered pizza and drank, drank, drank. Not sure what time I got home, but I sure as hell was tired at work on Tuesday!

Pics are here.

April Fool's Day Hash pics

So after the trip to DQ and driving back from Brenham, I hopped into my hash clothes and headed to the start of the April Fool's Day hash. I was tired, but wanted to go because it was Social's trail and I hadn't seen her in ages. Elvis was also bringing his new "puppy" and I wanted to see Mojo.

The Hares

Mojo!

I'm not gonna bore you with all the details (mainly b/c it's been a while and I forgot!). I just remember the one and only beer check being pretty close to the start and then a LONG way to go until the end...down streets, a long stretch of railroad tracks, through a park and on to Organ Grinder and MIT's house. Oh yeah, did I mention the one mile April Fool's Day false? :) Sure wish I had worn my Camelbak that day. Oh well, lesson learned. It's time to break it out of storage.

You can see the pics here. Be sure to check out the cool backyard area Organ and MIT built and their pretty garden!

Bluebonnet Hash Pics

Ok, so I've kind of been taking a little blog break. But I'm back to start posting pics again from hash events! Ready??

So on March 31, Day Old Fish and I drove up to Brenham for the Bluebonnet Hash. It was my first time to hash up there and I had a great time! The bluebonnets were absolutely gorgeous... I did my best to not trample any. :)

The Hares

The Austin Crew

At the end of trail there was a lot of delicious food...who made that brisket?? Apparently, in Brenham, nobody drinks alone. So Rollin passed out clothes pins that had letters on them. Your drinking partner was the hasher with the same colored letter. My drinking buddy for circle was Hooter Bill! We also were told to look for plastic Easter eggs on trail. I found 2...thanks to the help of Whore-o. Some of the chocolate had melted, but some didn't. Yummy. And who thinks the prize for finding the special golden egg should be a Butt Chug? Crazy! Luckily, I didn't find the golden egg because I am not drinking beer off someone's ass. Nasty.

What am I missing? Oh yeah! Gymno learned something at the trail. She learned what a Camel Toe is! Although, she kept calling it a Camel's Nose. :)

Hooter Bill had chicks all over him!

After circle, Rollin' Nutless took us all over to the On-On-On...at this little bar that is actually inside an Exxon convenience store. Totally crazy. Had a blast.

After that Rollin' took a few of us to a few more bars in Brenham since we decided to just crash at his place that night. Once we were finished with the bars, we headed to his place. Apparently, Rollin' has THE after party place because folks just started showing up...some we had seen at the previous bars, some not. I finally called it a night and went inside to crash on a recliner.

Sunday morning Dairy Queen was delicious.

You can see all the pics here.

I missed my McHottie!

Found out 2 days too late. Just heard about this on the radio today...my beloved Ryan Reynolds was in town and filming scenes for a movie on Tuesday. And where was I? Drinking it up at C. Hunt's. Crikey. I soooooooo would've gone downtown to try to see him in person!

**The production by Fireflies in the Garden, Inc., describes interactions within a family in crisis and how the tragic death of a family member affects family dynamics.
