Coordination is the key. My co-worker and I had the same idea this morning but did not let each other know. Got an early meeting today and we both picked up a crap load of kolaches to surprise everyone. We now have about 40 of them...for 9 people! Oh well, I like the ones I got better. And my favorite place evens labels the box so you know what you're getting when you pick one outta the box. All you Austinites go support this place...they have 2 locations now and their dough is so sweet and yummy. They rock!

Brenham Bluebonnet Run
Is anyone going to Brenham for the Bluebonnet Run this weekend? I would consider it if some folks want to carpool, but I also want to make sure I'm back for Social's April Fool's Day trail in Austin on Sunday.
Location: Brenham, 290 to the Brenham Exxon station next to the Dairy Queen
Time: 3:00
Date: Saturday March 31st
Hares: Puke and GymnoFees
Pot Luck: Bring a dish to share, BYOB, No Monies
Guaranteed: 1,000,000 Bluebonnets in bloom and trail at 3.1 miles
Directions:
The run will start in the parking lot behind the Westwood Exxon/ Westwood Cinema Complex & Horseshoe Junction Family Center (minature golf place) at 3pm. Driving directions from Houston are: take 290 through Brenham, exit 290 west toward Austin, look for the only working movie theatre in town on the right hand side of 290 (Westwood Cinema 6). Park behind the movie theatre and the Exxon station for the start of trail. If cumming from Austin: take 290 and as soon as you get to the outskirts of Brenham, look to the left for the cinema. If you exit right on 290 toward Houston you went too far, turn around. From College Station: Take FM 60 to Hwy36, turn left (south) on 36, go through Somerville toward Brenham. Veer right and continue on 36 south, (do not exit left onto business 36) when you get to the outskirts of Brenham. Continue on and exit right onto hwy 290 west toward Austin. Look for the Westwood Theatre on your right. Park behind theatre and Exxon station.

Oh Whataburger, How Do I Love Thee!
Just ran to Whataburger real quick to grab some food for lunch. Those who know me well, know I'm a little obsessed with their gravy. I'll dip just about anything in it. About the only thing I like better than eating their gravy is eating queso!
Side note: Tonight I have to help out at a fundraising event for work, so I'm in a dressy dress. (Which means I get to get paid OT and eat and drink for free!) I'm wearing the dress for the 1st time and discovered a little string and snaps underneath each shoulder to hold in your bra straps. Awesome!
Anyway, I almost didn't go to WB and was just gonna eat the boring soup I brought. But the gravy was calling. Good thing too because they must have a new manager at the Cameron Road location...and he is yummy! And hey, I even got a comment on my new dress from a customer. :)
You guys have a great week!

Lesley's Birthday Celebration
Forgot to put in link with all the pics.
So I got a call on the morning of March 21 from Lesley...it was her b-day! She had just returned late the night before from her vacation in London and Germany, but she still wanted to go have a birthday drink. We had apps and drinks at Maudie's Too...delicious diablo queso. :)
Leslo had originally just wanted to have 1-2 drinks since she got in so late from Germany the night before, but we decided to hit up the Horseshoe Lounge after hanging at Maudie's for a couple of hours. We met Dixie the bartender and for some reason she kept doing the "Two Wile and Crazy Guys" dance from SNL. Not sure who brought that up, but it was funny and she was super cool.
Did the celebration stop there? Nope. We then went back to Lesley's house and stayed up way too late on a school night. But hey, it was her b-day. :)
Woke up before my watch alarm went off the next morning at 5:45am. I guess when you can't stretch out your legs all night, you tend to not sleep too late. I was on the road heading back up north at 6am. Good thing, because the traffic from South Austin to North Austin was already heavy and there was a wreck on Mo-Pac at Duval Road which blocked 2 lanes. So after getting up that early I was still late for work! Oh well. I had fun catching up with Lesley.

St. Paddy's Day Pics
So I'm a little behind on keeping up with posts....what's new?!
On Sat, March 17...aka St. Patrick's Day...I headed over to the Keever's house, where a group of us were meeting, at 9:30am. We all piled into one car and were off to Mother Egan's. We had a good group show up to party with. No green beer, but who needs stained teeth? We were at an Irish pub with our token Irishman Gordon! Bridgett even spotted the Mayor inside and had a nice little chat with him, and of course, I made them pose for a picture. Hee hee hee.
We took off from the bar that afternoon so that pregnant Janna could get some rest before the party that night. We grabbed some food and returned to the Keever's. Luckily, there was an Aggie basketball game on to entertain me while others were resting. Then later on we went to the Hovii House for the dual birthday party for Amanda/continuation of St. Paddy's Day celebration. Good times, good times.
You can see all the pics here.

I Won’t Back Gingrich, Says Satan
A co-worker sent me this article and thought it was amusing......
Click here for web site, or read below.
Former House Speaker Loses Longtime Supporter
In what many political observers consider a bruising blow to a potential 2008 White House bid by Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House lost one of his longtime supporters today when Satan announced that he would not support a Gingrich candidacy.
For the normally reclusive Prince of Darkness, the decision to hold a press conference at the Washington Airport Marriott to reveal that he would not be supporting Mr. Gingrich struck many as extraordinary.
Dressed in his traditional red cape and carrying a smoldering pitchfork, Satan stated in no uncertain terms that he would be withholding his endorsement from his former colleague: “Not only am I not supporting Newt, I am giving his soul back.”
Satan’s announcement was particularly hurtful to the potential G.O.P. presidential candidate because, in the words of Gingrich supporter Tracy Klujian, “Newt and Satan have worked so closely in the past.”
According to a close associate of the Prince of Darkness, Satan’s rift with Gingrich stemmed from the former House Speaker’s decision to confess that he had had an extramarital affair with a staffer while pursuing the impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton for having an extramarital affair with a staffer.“
The fact that Newt confessed it to Jerry Falwell really ticked Satan off,” the Satan aide said.
Gingrich supporter Klujian remains hopeful, however, that the breach between the two infernal colleagues can somehow be mended: “You can win the G.O.P. nomination without Satan’s help, but it’s not easy.”
Elsewhere, President Bush kept expectations low for his tour of Latin America, telling reporters, “I never got good grades in Latin.”

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!!!
Today just sucked. I planned to work at our downtown office during the afternoon so I'd be close to the bar where the Capital City Aggies were watching the big game. I end up having to work late...that made me rushed and pissy, etc. On my way to the Third Base I have to miss my turn into the street where the parking garage is b/c some asshole decides to go the wrong direction on the street. So I get caught up in traffic while trying to turn around over by Magnolia/H&B trail area. I arrive at the bar much later than I had planned due to work and idiot drivers and traffic. Show up at the bar and there is a line. Apparently they've already reached maximum capacity and it's one out/one in. Helloooooo. It's 6:20pm! Crazy. So I get inside and call my friend who is meeting me there. No answer. A huge line begins to form and I realize that by the time she gets downtown, she will never get inside. So I bail.
I end up driving to Plucker's....my old home. Surely I will know one person, right? But of course I do! I can always count on that place. Found a seat at the bar by some folks I know and ended up having a great time. Duanette finally made it up there too. Well, it was good until the last seconds of the game. Acie, what happened to you? That looked like such an easy lay up to put A&M ahead by 3. Don't fret about it though. I still think you're awesome. :)
Ok, well after many beers later I finally decided to come home to get some rest. Hellooo...I think I did pretty good on 4 1/2 hours of sleep. Sorry duathletes. Tehre was no way I could drive back downtown after drinking so much up north. I'm off to bed now. Peace out.

A&M vs. Memphis
The Capital City A&M club is having a game watching party tonight at Third Base. It's located on 6th street....almost to Mo-Pac.
I'll be heading over right after work...and I'm at our downtown office right now, so it shouldn't take that long!
P.S. They have free wifi too, according to their web site.
Afterwards, I might try to meet up with the AD pub run folks. Of course, I'm working on 4 1/2 hours of sleep due to Lesley's birthday celebration last night....and I need my 8 hours!
Here is the pub run schedule in case that interests you:
· 7:30 - Meet at Jack & Adam's Bike Shop - Drink any beer that anyone has
· 7:45 – Depart
· FIRST BAR: Beauty Bar (say hi to Side Bar)
· 8:45 – Leave Beauty Bar
· SECOND BAR: Scholtz’s Beer Garden
· 9:30 – Leave Scholtz's
· THIRD BAR: Coyote Ugly
· 10:30 – Leave Coyote Ugly
· LAST STOP (optional): Gingerman

Erin Go Bragh!
An Irish Toast:
Of all my favorite things to do,
the utmost is to have a brew.
My love grows for my foamy friend,
with each thirst-quenching elbow bend.
Beer's so frothy, smooth, and cold--
It's paradise--pure liquid gold.
Yes, beer means many things to me...
That's all for now, I gotta pee!
HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY!!!
On On to the festitivites downtown.

Seriously?
Who would've thought that Texas A&M-Corpus would be beating Wisconsin at half time?? Crazy. There is still plenty of time for the Badgers to make a comeback though.
You know, it would totally screw up my bracket if Wisconsin loses...but oh how it would be funny! Sorry Squeezin'.
Even more hilarious if A&M-CC were to make it further than A&M...ok, no. That wouldn't be funny....that would just be depressing.

MIA Gagger
Ok, so I know I've been MIA for a little bit. Just a quick post of pics here and there. Well, my brother, his wife Monique and little baby Mia were in town and I know you don't want to see any more pics of my niece! Brother only here for 5 days, but Mo and Mia were here for 2 weeks! So pretty much every day after work I drove straight to my mom's or my dad's house to hang with relatives. I even slept at my parent's homes the entire time. Also, I've been working at our Capitol Office a lot lately, and I can't view blogs up there!
So here are some random thoughts......
So here are some random thoughts......
- Watching Monique take care of Mia wore me out...and she has help from my brother. I don't know how single moms do it!
- My bed is soooo much more comfortable than the 2nd spare bedroom at my mom's. It is so comfy, it was hard getting up the past 2 days since I've been home.
- I wish traffic was like this Spring Break traffic every day. It rocks!
- March Madness has made work soooo much more fun! We have everyone's brackets taped up to one wall at the Capitol Office. Gig 'Em Aggies!!!
- I love Shady Grove and Amy's Ice Cream.
- And I love that Mike and Mo always want to go there while in town.
- Finally checked out the Galaxy Cafe. Go check it out!
- My step-mom Carol is about to leave the spa she works at and venture out on her own. I'm so excited for her!
- 10. St. Paddy's Day is tomorrow. We are starting at 10am. Liver, are you ready??
- 11. That reminds me of the Plucker's shirt I want to get if it's being sold to customers and not just for staff. It says, "Pluck You, I'm Irish!"
- The rest of the pics from the Chuck Norris Hash/Elvis' B-day Hash are here.
- The folks at Groovy Lube are super nice.
- How can my bedroom be a disaster area when I've been gone for 2 weeks?
- HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO JEFFYPANTS!!!

RIP Stella
Just saw this on the hash list. Stella Boes passed away yesterday. So sad. And I had to go and miss the show on March 2 because I partied way too hard the night before at Elvis' 30th birthday party.
I even had a couple copies of Southwest Airline's Spirit magazine where there was an article about her...I was gonna get her to autograph them for me!
Read about Stella here...and here.

Shiner
Shiner was the theme of the day for me on Saturday. After lunch at Shady Grove, we went over to Amy's Ice Cream for dessert. I tried a new flavor instead of getting the same as always (Mexican Vanilla with Butterfingers crushed in). The new flavor I had was Shiner! Totally awesome. Then later that night I drank Shiner beer. Delicious!
Yum yum.
Yum yum.

Elvis Turns the Big 3-0!
Wow. My eyes are still blood shot, I can't stop yawning, and I feel like I could eat an entire bowl of queso...and I've already had some maple & brown sugar oatmeal AND a bagel. Must have been a good night!
Since my relatives arrived yesterday afternoon, I missed all the birthday festivities until the surprise dinner/party at Chon Som. I'm really bummed I missed the old school roller skating. Would've been cool to go back to the same place where I used to have b-day parties as a kid. Oh well. Back to CS. Man...Michelle ordered up some delicious food...and what a cute cake! We drank and drank and drank and ate. Folks sang karaoke. Bone Sucker brought some bumper stickers that said, "I heart Elvis." Several of us put the sticker across our boobs so we could all flash Strap-On Elvis...of course, I left mine on all night and ended up flashing everyone all night long. I mean, Vagitarian told me to pretend I was at an out of town event!
Once it was time to close down CS, a group of us headed over to Raggedy Anne's...this little dive bar in the next shopping center. I don't remember much from that bar. All I know is that we closed it down too.
I plan on loading the pictures during lunch...unless I decide that a nap would be better. I don't function well on 4 hours of sleep.
I wonder how Elvis feels this morning?!?
p.s. Oh yeah...wait until you see the buttons we had made for him. Hee hee hee.....
